Value Pack: Z90 3D Printed Reusable COVID-19 Respirator Mask
Due to the world wide outbreak of the Corona Virus, I have re-purposed this website and my ability to design and 3D print my own products, to help protect those that need an alternative to the almost impossible to find N95 masks. This is my solution: The Z90 Respirator!
This Value Pack comes with 4x Z90 Respirators & 4x Reusable Polypropylene Pod Filters in the size combination of your choice!
Prices listed include FREE SHIPPING anywhere in the USA!
Note: This product is not better nor equivalent to an actual N95 mask, but does offer more protection than surgical masks and other non-sealed masks. If you have access to actual N95 masks, you're better off to use them instead.
Now, unlike many of the other 3D printed and home-made masks cropping up in the world, this mask utilizes the same filtration method as an actual N95 mask. The filter "pods" house 2 layers of 100% Polypropylene fabric, the same material used to make N95 masks.
The top layer is a water resistant layer that protects the user against "droplets" in the air, such as when someone coughs or sneezes in your direction.
The 2nd layer is the actual filtration layer, which is fine enough to capture the virus before it reaches your airways. Once captured within the filter, it will die off within 24 hours.
Similar to the more advanced respirators used in commercial applications, this is a solid plastic mask that uses a foam based seal that seals the mask to your face, giving you more protection than the average surgical mask or cotton based barrier.
The problem with surgical masks and cotton-based face coverings, is that they aren't sealed to your face, meaning air (and the virus) can travel around them when you take a breathe. The suction from your lungs creates a vacuum and the majority of the air (and everything in it) follows the path of least resistance around the mask and into the openings on every edge of the mask.
Another advantage to the Z90 is it's check valve and gasket system. The vast majority of other 3D printed masks do not have either of these necessary features. The pod and the check valves are sealed using 3D printed TPU gaskets. TPU is a flexible rubberized material that helps create a tighter seal around the filtration components.
The check valve is just as important as it allows carbon dioxide to escape the Z90 using a 3D printed one way valve. When we breathe in, we breathe in o2 (oygen), but when we breathe out, we expel co2 (carbon dioxide). This one way valve opens a vent as outward pressure is applied when exhaling and closes itself off when breathing in.
That way you're only pulling fresh oxygen in through the pod filter, but aren't trapping any co2 in the Z90 when you exhale. Trapping co2 in a mask could cause difficulty breathing and possibly even suffocation, which seems to be something that is overlooked entirely in other designs.
Please keep in mind, this respirator has NOT been tested by the CDC or any accredited medical facilities. This is a solution I came up with on my own with my knowledge of PPE in the automotive paint and chemical industry, alongside my 10 years of experience in 3D modeling and 3D printing.
While I firmly believe that this respirator is more effective than surgical masks or other home made solutions, it's up to you to decide if you agree with my logic. I am not a doctor or a scientist. I am a design engineer. By purchasing this product, you are accepting that you are using the Z90 at your own risk. Just as I will be using them myself, at my own risk.
I lost my day job because of the Corona Virus without any ability to return to that job. I wanted to figure out a way to both help people in this crisis, while also maintaining my ability to pay my bills and survive. I've spent over 60 hours perfecting this design and literally spent the last $300 I had to my name, gathering the materials to produce it. I have been at home since March 22nd, only leaving to get needed supplies. My hands are cracked and my skin is peeling from the literal gallon of alcohol I've used to keep them disinfected. My parents, whom I live next door to, are elderly. My mom is 60 and just finished her chemo for breast cancer. My dad is 70 and has respiratory issues. That means they are in the group most likely not to survive if they contract COVID-19. So I have taken this entire "event" VERY seriously.
Currently, the Polypropylene fabric is on it's way here though the US mail and is scheduled to arrive on April 10th. I also expect a shipment of elastic straps to arrive on April 13th, meaning the first batch of Z90 respirators will not ship until April 14th.
Everyone that orders between now and then will receive their Z90 in the order in which they were received. I am a one man operation and will do my best to get them out as quickly as I possibly can. I've only slept 3 hours in the last 48 hours just trying to get them ready for production.
The images I took are of the actual Z90's with cotton filters and wool straps. You WILL receive actual Polypropylene filters and elastic straps in your orders. I only used cotton and wool for the images so I could get this listing up as quickly as possible.
I will also be adding more color options as the week progresses (not like I have anything else to do) and making tutorial videos on how to use and clean your Z90 Respirator, to my regular motorcycle YouTube channel: #notagrom
I will update this listing once those videos are completed. If you are interested in purchasing a bulk order or simply have questions about the Z90, please use the "Contact Us" tab on this website. Your message will be forwarded to my personal email address and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
